Welcome to Davis Capoeira ADB!
Capoeira combines elements of martial arts, dance, acrobatics, fighting, playing and music into a dynamic game, or jogo, played in the capoeira roda or circle/wheel. Movements include attacks and defenses, dance-like steps, and acrobatic tricks and flourishes called floreios. The exchange between the players is a game; an intersection of dancing and fighting, which is played to the rhythms of the berimbau, other instruments and traditional songs.
Susie Pike has been training capoeira since 2001. She began teaching capoeira to children and adults in Davis and Sacramento in 2005, with Agua de Beber Capoeira, and brings a background in gymnastics, running, and yoga to her capoeira training and teaching. Outside of capoeira Professora Borbulhas studies environmental policy at UC Davis.
